COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– The Columbia Police Department said the area have been given the all clear by officers after a suspicious package was not located inside a vehicle.

Members of the Columbia Police Department’s Bomb Squad responded as a safety precaution.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Columbia Police and the Columbia-Richland Fire Department are on the scene in the 1300 block of Calhoun Street , after an emergency call about a suspicious package.

According to CPD, emergency dispatchers received a 911 call from a citizen shortly after 11:30 a.m. regarding a suspicious package inside a vehicle on Calhoun Street.

Officers are continuing to investigate and pedestrians and drivers are asked to avoid the area.

Additionally, officers have temporarily closed off the 1300 block of Calhoun Street between Bull, and Main Streets in an abundance of caution.
