PANAMA CITY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Congressman Neal Dunn hosted a military service academy day Saturday.

The event hosted middle and high school students who are interested in attending academic schools.

The goal of the event was to tell students about the service schools and advise them on what they can do now to increase their odds of getting into one of these highly competitive schools.

Neal Dunn’s office works with these students to make sure they hit their milestones every year.

Dunn says that making recommendations for the students and getting to tell them when they’ve achieved something is the highlight of it all.

“The students always leave you feeling younger, more optimistic,” said Congressman Dunn, “but I get the happiest chore of all, I get tipped off first, and I get to call them.”

He adds he takes pride in the education he received through ROTC, which is what motivates him to promote service academy education.
