Days after Fox News host Sean Hannity bought a townhouse next door to one he already owned in Palm Beach , a newly recorded deed sheds light on a related deal. The couple who sold their townhouse to Hannity has bought a townhome in the same oceanfront development, which lies a few miles south of President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago. Venture capitalist and former U.S. Ambassador Clifford M. Sobel and his wife, Barbara, sold Hannity their two-story townhouse at 10 Sloan's Curve Drive in the Residences at Sloan's Curve for $14.9 million in an off-market deal recorded Jan. 27 , courthouse records show. A deed recorded exactly a week later shows the Sobels paid the same amount for a five-bedroom townhouse, No. 1, on the north end of the 15-unit development on the South End of town. The townhouse that just sold via the deed recorded Feb. 3 has 6,372 square feet of living space, inside and on its exterior spaces, which include an oceanfront pool patio and balcony. The Palm Beach Daily News is the first media outlet to report the just-recorded townhouse sale. The two-bedroom townhouse Hannity bought from the Sobels shares a wall with one he has owned at 9 Sloan's Curve Drive since 2021, when he paid $5.6 million for it . The same year, he earned the town's permission to remodel and expand the residence. Need a break? Play the USA TODAY Daily Crossword Puzzle. Clifford Sobel was appointed by former President George W. Bush as ambassador to the Netherlands, where he served from 2001 to 2005. Former President Barack Obama named him ambassador to Brazil in 2006, and he held that position until August 2009. Sobel also co-founded Valor Capital Group, a New York City-based venture-capital firm, where he holds the title "founding partner." The company specializes in cross-border investments, “bridging” the U.S., Brazilian and global technology markets, according to its website . Philanthropist and community leader Paula L. Sidman sold the Sobels the townhouse, the deed shows. With ties to Boston, Sidman had purchased the townhouse for $1.95 million in 1988, according to property records. The gated townhouse development was built in 1981 as part of the adjacent Sloan's Curve condominium community. Sidman had the townhouse homesteaded as her primary residence in the latest Palm Beach County tax rolls. She is the widow of Edwin Sidman , who died in 2005. The Sidman family's charitable arm has supported a number of organizations in the Boston area and Palm Beach County, tax records show. Agent Spencer Schlager of Douglas Elliman Real Estate was the listing agent for Sidman's townhouse. It entered the market Dec. 27 with a price of $14.9 million and was under contract by Jan. 10, the multiple listing service shows. Agent Fern Fodiman of Sotheby's International Realty represented the Sobels in their purchase of townhouse No. 1, according to the MLS. She also was involved in the deal when the Sobels sold their condo to Hannity. Fodiman and Schlager declined to comment about the sale. Fodiman also said she couldn't discuss the previous townhouse deal involving the Sobels and Hannity. Fodiman also handled both sides of the 2022 sale when the Sobels bought townhouse No. 10 for $7.5 million , according to records in the multiple listing service. Hannity's purchase of the Sobels' townhouse appeared to mark the second Palm Beach County transaction within two months for the conservative firebrand. Just before Thanksgiving, Hannity is said to have used an ownership company to buy — for a recorded $23.5 million — an ocean-to-lake estate south of Palm Beach at 1840 S. Ocean Blvd. in Manalapan. The Wall Street Journal was the first to report his involvement in the Manalapan purchase. The townhouse the Sobels sold to Hannity has about 5,700 square feet, according to a previous sales listing for the property. The townhouse the Sobels just bought is immediately south of casino-and-resort magnate Steve Wynn’s estate. It’s about 2.7 miles from The Mar-a-Lago Club, where Hannity has visited Trump, his close friend and adviser, multiple times, according to press reports. Hannity hosts his own show, “Hannity,” on Fox News as well as a nationally syndicated talk- radio program, “The Sean Hannity Show.” He has authored a number of best-selling books. Hannity made headlines in early January 2024 when he said on his iHeart Radio show that he had moved his broadcasting operations from New York and begun broadcasting from “the free state of Florida.” He said the policies of the Sunshine State’s conservative political leadership were more in line with his values than those of liberal-leaning “blue” states such as New York. A New York native, Hannity filed a notice in 2024 with the Palm Beach County Clerk declaring his Palm Beach townhouse to be his primary home. Hannity is prolific real estate investor, according to a 2018 report by The Guardian . Citing public records, The Guardian’s report linked Hannity to ownership companies that had spent $90 million on more than 870 homes. Those sales were in Florida, Alabama, Georgia, New York, North Carolina, Texas and Vermont, according to the Guardian.
