BROOKINGS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - The South Dakota State men captured the program’s third Summit League indoor championship title while the North Dakota State women claimed their 16th crown in the last 18 years Saturday inside the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex.

For the first time since 2010-11, a Kansas City Roo was named the men’s Track Championship MVP. Kansas City’s Tory Lanham earned the honor with 20 total points.

Lanham’s points came from a gold medal finish in the 200-meter (21.07 seconds), a runner-up finish in the 60m (6.82) and a silver medal in the 4x400m relay (3:13.19).

South Dakota State’s Caiden Fredrick became the sixth Jackrabbit to earn the men’s Field Championship MVP award. He earned the title of field MVP after putting up 14 total points for the champion Jackrabbits.

His 14 points came from a second-place finish in the weight throw (67-09.75; 20.67m) and a third-place finish in the shot put (55-07.75; 16.96m).

North Dakota State’s Reece Grosserode is the first Bison since 2010-11 to be named men’s Newcomer of the Championship.

Grosserode finished with 13 points for NDSU after finishing second in the triple jump (49-02.25; 14.99m) and fourth in the long jump (23-05.50; 7.15m).

North Dakota’s Jadyn Keeler is the second consecutive Fighting Hawk to be named the women’s Track Championship MVP after completing the triple crown on the track for 30 total points.

She walked away with gold medals in the mile (4:45.90), 3,000m (9:21.78) and 5,000m (16:20.88). Keeler’s winning time in the 5,000m was a Summit League Indoor Track and Field Championship meet record.

Fellow Fighting Hawk Kenna Curry was crowned the women’s Field Championship MVP for the second straight year. She finished with 20 total points for UND after defending her title in the weight throw (70-06.25; 21.49m) and taking gold in the shot put (50-03.50; 15.33m).

North Dakota State’s Elise Wisnewski is the second consecutive Bison to be named Newcomer of the Championship on the women’s side. She claimed the honor with 10 total points for North Dakota State.

Wisnewski’s 10 points came from a second-place finish in the 4x400m relay (3:42.27), a fourth-place finish in the 200m (24.39) and a sixth-place finish in the 60m (7.62).

South Dakota’s Mason Sindelar captured the men’s mile crown with a meet record time of 4:05.40.

Fellow Coyote, Sara Reifenrath claimed her third career 400m title with a meet record time of 52.95.

USD’s Erin Kinney was crowned the women’s 60m champion for the third consecutive time in her career. She took the top spot on the podium with a time of 7.32.

For South Dakota State’s Brielle Dixon, a meet record 8.19 in the 60m hurdle preliminaries yesterday wasn’t good enough. She lowered her meet record from yesterday taking the event in a meet record time of 8.16.

North Dakota State’s Arienne Birch picked up her second consecutive high jump title. She grabbed gold with a clearance of 5-09.75 (1.77m).

The Jackrabbits’ Cody Larson captured his second meet record of the championship as well as his second gold medal. He captured the 5,000m crown in a meet record time of 13:55.99.

The Coyote women’s 4x400m relay closed out the championship with a record-breaking finish. They captured USD’s fifth straight women’s 4x400m relay title after finishing the race in a meet-record time of 3:40.46.
