Downtown Peoria has seen a wave of new cocktail lounges since July − with three new establishments opening within half a mile of each other. Each offer customers a creatively crafted cocktail selection served in a unique atmosphere.

Sprinkled in between, the community will continue to find established bars like 8 Bit Arcade Bar and Rhodell Brewery .

So, here is a look at the new cocktail lounges in Downtown Peoria.

Revel & Maker



Revel & Maker opened above Ardor Breads and Provisions in July. The space includes a moody, speakeasy style lounge and a bar area with tall, arched windows.

Nightjar



On Aug. 1, Jessie Yoskin and Cassy Gilbert opened Nightjar in the space formerly home to Bearded Owl Brewing.

On Dec. 13, Nightjar plans to host a grand opening party for the business's craft beer operations. A Facebook announcement said there "will be at least 4 Nightjar beers on tap to sample."

Matilda’s Cocktail Lounge



Walking into Matilda's, customers will find old thrifted furniture, wood paneling, a vintage TV with a VCR player and other 1970s-themed touches. A handful of classic cocktails, such as a White Russian and a Tequila Sunrise, are available for $9.

“I wanted to do something like nostalgic and fun and able to be like colorful cocktails and not just like straight up martinis, you know," owner Whitney Calvert said. "I wanted to be a little bit more playful."
