Services will be held Saturday for former Crofton and South Dakota basketball player Bridget (Arens) Schumacher.

The South Dakota women's basketball Facebook page said the 30-year-old Schumacher died unexpectedly Oct. 25 at a Yankton (S.D.) hospital.

She was a standout player at Crofton, leading that team to Class C-2 state championships in 2012 and 2013. The three-sport athlete averaged 17 points as a senior for the undefeated Warriors and was a two-time all-state selection.

She went on to play at South Dakota for Amy Williams, now the coach at Nebraska.

"Devastated by the loss of Bridget Arens Schumacher," Williams said on X. "I was blessed to coach her for three years at USD and she was the best of the best! An absolute Warrior on the court and the most amazing young lady off the court! She loved big and was loved even bigger!"
