On Monday, runners from five area schools competed at the Long Prairie-Grey Eagle Invite where six of those area athletes earned top-10 finishes in either the girls or boys races - none as impressive as Parkers Prairie's Norah Froslee, who won the girls race (ahead of 82 runners) with a time of 20:22.33.

The Minnewaska girls also put together a stellar outing as four runners finished inside the top 10: Nori Song (4th, 21:22.23); Jillian Deutsch (7th, 21:53.95); Lauryn Ankeny (8th, 22:03.76) and Maia Larson (9th, 22:04.89). Those four runners helped lead the Lakers to a top finish (out of 11) in the girls team scores with 30 points, which was 33 points ahead of second-place Wadena-Deer Creek.

The Ashby-Brandon-Evansville girls placed sixth as a team (155 points) led by Lauren Thoennes (17th, 22:49.55), and Alexandria Community Christian School placed 10th (235 points) led by Emma Kleinschmidt (28th, 24:07.09). (Parkers Prairie and Osakis teams didn't have enough runners to qualify for team scores.)

On the boys side, Osakis' Zackery Bruder was the lone top-10 finisher (third, 17:17.00) for area athletes in a race of 85 contestants. Jacob Drevlow (Sauk Centre) won the event with a time of 16:50.28.

The Minnewaska boys placed fifth (out of 11) in the team scores with 155 points led by Ian Mills (15th, 18:54.27). A-B-E finished in 10th with 236 points led by August Bredberg (34th, 20:29.61).
