TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Two games, two wins for CSI. Both CSI basketball teams were in action Friday night on the first day of the Wright Physical Therapy Shootout, as both teams came away with wins. The No. 5 Lady Golden Eagles (6-1) were in action first and downed Northeastern Junior College 74-44. CSI led 20-4 after a quarter with six forced turnovers and never looked back. Sophomore guard Kennedy Gillette led the team with 19 points while hauling in seven rebounds. Freshman forward Ashley Garner finished with her first career double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds while Alina Sapilak had 10 points, six rebounds, and three steals. Sapilak made her first start for CSI on Friday. Savannah Stoker also recorded three steals along with four points and nine rebounds. The Golden Eagles had great production with 26 bench points and capitalized on 19 points off turnovers. The No. 21 CSI men’s team followed with a 77-68 win over Eastern Wyoming. All five starters scored in double-digits as CSI shot 41 percent from the field. Sophomore forward Isaac Hawkins recorded his sixth double-double of the season with 15 points and 12 rebounds (seven offensive rebounds). Tanner Hayhurst had 15, Gerry Guerrero with 12, and both Amarco Doyle/Nathan Ahner had 10 points each in the win. Sophomore forward Walker Timme made his season debut after being sidelined due to injuries. He scored seven points off the bench. CSI had 24 turnovers Friday night, something they’ll look to fix come Saturday night. Both teams are back in action on Saturday for Day 2 of the tournament. The women’s team will play first at 5 against Columbia State Community College followed by the men at 7:00 against Lane Community College.
