Juan Soto has caught fire in recent outings, and his bat will stay hot vs. Chicago tonight.

The Chicago Cubs and New York Mets face off at Citi Field tonight, with first pitch at 7:15 p.m. ET.

Juan Soto racked up five total bases last night, and my Cubs vs. Mets predictions back the New York slugger to have another big game. Here are my free MLB picks for this NL clash on May 10.

Cubs vs Mets prediction

Juan Soto is one of the best hitters in the world, so the New York Mets signed him to a 15-year, $765 million contract in the offseason. Soto struggled at the start of this year, but his Statcast analytics suggested positive regression, which has hit in a big way.

He's slashing .367/.474/.933 with a pair of doubles and five homers in eight games this month. The five-time Silver Slugger winner is in the Top 5% of all batters in exit velocity and hard-hit rate, which has led to an expected slugging percentage of .641 — the fourth-best number in the majors.

The left-handed Soto will have the platoon advantage today against Chicago Cubs starter Brad Keller , who has a 3.78 ERA. Keller has been primarily working out of the bullpen the last two years, and when he previously started, he struggled, posting a 5.14 ERA in 57 starts from 2021 to 2023.

Soto has a history of dominating Keller, going 4-for-6 at the plate with two dingers in his career. The Cubs also have a poor bullpen with their relievers 21st in the majors in ERA (4.51) and 24th in WHIP (1.40).

Cubs vs Mets same-game parlay (SGP)

The Mets are sending Tylor Megill to the mound today. The 29-year-old is in the midst of a career-best season, pitching to a 2.50 ERA with an expected ERA of 3.10 through 36 innings.

Megill is in the Top 20th percentile in strikeout rate and has fanned six or more batters in seven of his last nine starts.

The Mets are atop the NL East with a 25-14 record and have gone 14-3 at home. They beat the Cubs 7-2 last night, and since they have the better starter and bullpen, I'm backing them to win again.
