He's David S. Pumpkins, man! And he'll be back on NBC this Saturday, October 28, in a brand new animated special. Any questions?

It's the Saturday Night Live sketch that danced its way into our hearts last Halloween and became a viral sensation while simultaneously confusing everyone as to why they found it funny. Tom Hanks' pumpkin-tuxedo clad David S. Pumpkins will be making his grand return -- along with his skeleton comrades -- to our television screens on Saturday, October 28, in the debut of an animated special. "It's scary how quickly the original SNL sketch caught on, and we're thrilled that Tom Hanks is back to keep the fun going," said George Cheeks, NBC President of Business Operations and Late Night Programming. https://www.facebook.com/snl/videos/10155756491491303/   "The David S. Pumpkins Halloween Special" will have Hanks on camera at the beginning of the special, as well as reprising his role of David S. Pumpkins. Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage and sketch creators Mikey Day, Bobby Moynihan, and Streeter Seidell will also have voiceover roles. Bento Box Entertainment is providing the animation, with Day, Seidell, and Moynihan writing and producing. Here's what we know about the plot so far:
Set in a small suburban town on All Hallows' Eve, the special centers on David Pumpkins and his skeleton sidekicks who show a young boy and his sister the true meaning of Halloween, answering none of their questions along the way."

It's pretty difficult to pinpoint what made the "Haunted Elevator" sketch such a success. It very well could have been the charm of America's dad, Tom Hanks. Or maybe it was the dancing skeletons at his side? Whatever it was, David S. Pumpkins was a silly and bright light when, at the time, the national mood was fairly bleak. And it looks like the NBC special will do the same this year! The 30-minute animated special will air on NBC at 11:30 p.m. (ET).
