WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) officers arrested a man who was accused of robbing several convenience stores with a fire extinguisher.

MPD said that 42-year-old Raham Barnes of Upper Marlboro, Md. was arrested on Wednesday. He was held in Prince George’s County for unrelated crimes.

He was accused of committing four different armed robberies across the District within two weeks in April.

MPD said that the first incident took place on April 15 at a convenience store in the 300 block of Hawaii Ave., NE. Police said that around 6:30 a.m., Barnes went into the store and took some items before walking up to the counter. He grabbed a fire extinguisher and sprayed the employee with it. He escaped after stealing the cash register and other items.

The next robbery happened on April 17 at a convenience store in the 5200 block of 3rd St. NE. MPD said that Barnes entered the store just after 12:45 a.m. and started spraying a fire extinguisher at people. He stole the cash register’s drawer and escaped.

MPD said that Barnes targeted a convenience store in the 1700 block of Columbia Rd. NW on the next day. Police said that around 9:15 a.m., he went into the store and “sprayed the contents of a fire extinguisher at an employee.” He escaped after stealing money from the cash register.

The last robbery happened on April 23 at a store in the 3000 block of 14th St. NW. MPD said that Barnes went into the store just before 12:05 p.m. and once again sprayed an employee with a fire extinguisher. He stole the cash register and escaped.

MPD said that Barnes will face charges for those robberies after he goes through the extradition process to D.C.
