One hunted goose got the last laugh, falling on top of its human predator and sending a Maryland hunter to the hospital.

This is definitely not something you read everyday... A Maryland man was hunting geese in Easton, along the Miles River, when just before sundown, he received the shock of his life. One of the geese he had been hunting fell from the sky, dead as a door nail, and struck the hunter right on the head. Maryland Natural Resources Police reported the hunter was knocked unconscious and suffered serious head and facial injuries from the blow. State natural resource officials, Talbot County Sheriff’s Office deputies and local EMTs were the first on the scene.

Officers decided to transfer the injured hunter to Easton Airport and ultimately decided to airlift him to Shock Trauma for treatment. It is still unclear how serious the man's injuries were -- obviously serious enough for an airlift -- though officials are telling the public that the injured hunter is in stable condition. Canadian Geese Season ran in most of Maryland this year from December 15 to February 3. -- What is your most harrowing local wildlife story? Tell it to us in the comment section below!
