RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A Delta flight from New York to Florida was diverted to RDU International Airport where it landed safely on Saturday afternoon, officials said.

The flight, Delta 2090, was headed from John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York to Orlando, Florida.

The jet, an Airbus A321, left JFK at 11:41 p.m. and was due at Orlando at 2:30 p.m.

The Delta Airbus was over eastern North Carolina approaching the Jacksonville area at 32,000 feet when it turned northwest to the Raleigh area and descended to 23,000 feet within about 3 minutes, Flight Aware data indicated.

The flight appeared to land just after 1:15 p.m. at RDU.

“Delta flight 2090 was diverted to RDU due to an odor in the cabin,” RDU media officials said in a statement at 1:43 p.m. “The aircraft has landed safely.”

The flight eventually continued to Orlando with an 8:52 p.m. takeoff from RDU, Flight Aware indicates.
