So. Stinkin'. Cute!
A dog from Denver is getting some national love after being selected to be in the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) 2021 Canine Calendar. Meet Csoki, a 3-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer whose name means “chocolate” in Hungarian. His cute mug was selected to represent the month of February.
Csoki is a hard-working dog that spends his days keeping the halls and people of Denver International Airport (DIA) safe along with his trainer Katie C. According to his profile, he's a true Colorado dog—his favorite activities are playing and digging in the snow.
The TSA Canine Calendar is free to download, and features 12 working dogs, along with facts and information on TSA dogs and the work they do. These dogs and their handlers work as teams to detect explosives and keep passengers and airports safe across the country.
There are over 1,000 canine explosive detection teams working in airports in the U.S. The TSA National Explosives Detection Canine program is "considered the 'center for excellence' for explosives detection canine training." It's the largest canine detection program in the Department of Homeland Security and the second-largest canine program in the federal government. The Department of Defense has the largest canine explosive detection program in the country.
While these teams may not often be seen or known to the public, they work hard every day—and the calendar is a way to meet a few of the teams that keep out airport terminals and all who pass through them safely. We appreciate the hard work, Csoki!
