Cover your ears and get ready for this year's outdoor emergency siren test – Wednesday, May 10 at 11 a.m. in Denver, Lakewood and Wheat Ridge.

The annual emergency siren test has been scheduled for Wednesday, May 10 at 11 a.m. in Denver, Lakewood and Wheat Ridge. Each test will take place over various durations of time – Denver will last for three minutes, while Wheat Ridge and Lakewood will last about 12 minutes. This test of the emergency sirens is conducted every year prior to tornado season. The sirens also serve as a warning of chemical spills or flash floods. Wheat Ridge and Lakewood's tests will have a voice test message that will follow the sirens.
As a reminder to the public, seek shelter as soon as the sirens sound and listen to (or view) local media outlets for any additional information or more warnings. If you're unsure where the best places are to seek shelter during a tornado, click here. Stay safe out there, Colorado!
