The Denver Nuggets are off to one of the best starts in franchise history.

As Denver sports fans, we know this time of the year is dedicated to Broncos Country. Unfortunately, as this season has turned out to be another rough one, we need to get our positive, hometown-sports-fix elsewhere.

Well, look no further! Your Denver Nuggets, with a record of 9-2 and currently leading their division, are off to the best start the franchise has seen in 50 years.

It’s hard not to be overly optimistic about this team. Not only are they off to one of the best starts in Nuggets' history, but they’ve also defeated two of the top teams in the NBA. The Golden State Warriors and the Boston Celtics are both teams expected to compete for an NBA championship this year, and the Nuggets have already picked up a victory versus each.

In the past, games on the road for Denver have usually been a disaster; however, they are off to a solid start with a winning record away from the Pepsi Center.

Denver has always been known to have a top tier offense and this year's no different, as the Nuggets currently rank ninth in the league for overall offensive ranking. But what’s different this year? The commitment that this team is showing on defense.

For the first time in the Coach Malone era, the Nuggets rank top five in the league in overall defense. They also are ranking amongst the top five teams in points allowed per game, as they’ve only allowed 101 points thus far. Coach Malone is known as a defensive coach and it’s clear that his commitment to the defensive end is being proven with this team.

This might be the best part of the hot start the Nuggets are experiencing: They're not even performing at their full potential yet. The Nuggets currently have three guys injured, each of whom has the ability to play critical roles to this team.

Isaiah Thomas, a point guard signed during the offseason, is a prolific scorer off the bench. Michael Porter, Jr. is the Nuggets’ 1st round pick, a 6’10” pure shooter, who is expected to return sometime after Christmas. And, arguably the most notable of the three, Will Barton. “Will the Thrill,” unfortunately, suffered a hip injury during the Nuggets home opener and is expected to be out for 6-8 weeks. Barton averaged nearly 16 points per game last year and is an energizing lift for not only his teammates, but he can fire up a sold-out crowd at the Pepsi Center, too.

The Nuggets have the potential to achieve something incredible this year. So now it’s up to us, Denver fans! This team has proven that they’ll be an exciting basketball team to follow this season; they need and deserve our support. If you have the opportunity to attend a home game at the Pepsi Center this winter, take it! Not sure which game to attend? Here are some games you don't want to miss out on this season.
