If you've been driving around with expired tags or temporary plates, you better get them updated—and fast!
Following an enforcement campaign from July through August of this year, which resulted in at least 430 citations, the Denver Police Department (DPD) recently announced that it and other law enforcement agencies will conduct a weeklong operation targeting expired vehicle registrations.
DPD said that starting Monday, it will join up with the Colorado State Patrol, the Aurora Police Department, and the Colorado Springs Police Department to enforce expired vehicle registration and expired temporary license plate violations along the Interstate 25 and Interstate 70 corridors.
The enforcement will last for a week, and drivers are encouraged to register vehicles or renew their expired registration to avoid being pulled over and given a $95 fine from a Denver Municipal Code citation.
You must register newly purchased or acquired vehicles at one of the city's Division of Motor Vehicles offices. However, if you need to renew your registration, you can do so online or at a designated kiosk.
