That's right. If you've felt like Denver drivers are some of the worst drivers in the country, you're not wrong.
Using the total number of traffic incidents (which includes accidents, speeding tickets, DUIs, and citations) in 2016 and weighing them with percentages, QuoteWizard ranked the 75 most populated U.S. Cities from worst drivers to best. Denver came in at No. 9 -- that's ninth worst. The only cities with worst drivers were: Omaha, NE (No. 8) Columbus, OH (No.7) Los Angeles, CA (No. 6) San Diego, CA (No. 5) Richmond, VA (No. 4) Riverside, CA (No. 3) Salt Lake City, UT (No. 2) Sacramento, CA (No.1) [caption id="attachment_18302" align="aligncenter" width="575"]
How do you statistically determine bad driving? We sampled incident stats from users of our website with over two million data points from 2016. To quantify over driver standards for comparison, we weighted incident counts for each city with its occurrence percentage," QuoteWizard's web site explains, regarding the study's methodology.
Cities with the best drivers included Motor City itself, Detroit, MI (No. 75), Providence, RI (No. 74), and Orlando, FL (No. 73). Denver's neighbor to the south, Colorado Springs, came in at No. 39. Click here to see the full list of 75 cities, ranked from worst to best!
A December 2016 report by the same group also ranked the best and worst drivers by state. Colorado came in at No. 8 (eighth worst) on that list.
