The Denver Zoo guest experience just got even better.

With the Denver Zoo's new mobile app, visitors can learn more about each animal, navigate the premises with an interactive GPS-enabled map, and refer to the calendar for each day's scheduled events. For instance, if you wanted to see the African Penguin Feeding demonstration but also experience the popular Sea Lion Show, you could browse the app for available show times and then click on the map to make sure you can get from one exhibit to the other with plenty of time to swing by a concessions stand on the way. The app was launched in April (just in time for Colorado's lovely warmer weather!) after years of research and effort in making it a state-of-the-art design. [caption id="attachment_14955" align="aligncenter" width="300"] Photo courtesy of the Denver Zoo[/caption] “We’ve been working on this since apps became apps,” said Brad Parkas, the senior director of guest experience for the Denver Zoo. “This is something we’ve looked at for years, yet we tried to strategically pick what’s necessary and what’s worked for other places.” The app provides detailed information about the individual zoo animals, including names, ages, and fun facts to enhance visitors' educational experience. Plus, you can monitor the zoo events from home to plan your visit before you arrive. It improves the front gate entrance process, as well, making it easy to pull up digital copies of the membership card for members and already-purchased tickets for non-members.
And best of all, the app is completely free and is designed for both Apple and Android devices (easily downloadable in the app store under the search "Denver Zoo"). It's also conveniently available in Spanish. With the pleasant spring and summer days ahead, it sounds like a perfect time to gather friends and family for a new and improved zoo experience.

In other Denver Zoo news, we recently said goodbye to some Red Pandas.
