The Denver Zoo's family is continuing to grow with the arrival of Penny, a baby red-ruffed lemur.

On April 25, 2017, the Denver Zoo welcomed Penny to the large zoo family. She was born to parents Sixpence and Mego, with Penny being the second birth for both parents – the first birth a set of quadruplets in 2011. Sixpence, the mother, was born at the Denver Zoo in 1998, while Mego came to the zoo in 2008. Red-ruffed lemurs are primarily covered with red fur, with the exception of their black faces, feet and tails. The species, according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature, is classified as endangered. red-ruffed Adult lemurs can grow up to three feet long. If you thought that was impressive, you'll be in awe when you hear that their tails alone can stretch more than three feet! You can meet Penny at the zoo's Emerald Forest building.
