DETROIT (WILX) - The Detroit Lions have announced the halftime show performer for this season’s Thanksgiving game against the Chicago Bears.

Six-time Grammy-nominated artist Shaboozey has been tapped to take Ford Field for the week 13 game.

Shaboozey, birth name Collins Obinna Chibueze (his stage name is derived from mispronunciations of his surname), came onto the mainstream music scene earlier this year with the hit crossover single “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” which sampled a 2004 single by rapper J-Kwon. The single has accumulated over a billion streams across digital service providers and made history when Shaboozey became the first-ever Black artist to simultaneously top Billboard’s Hot Country Songs and Hot 100.

The 29-year-old singer-songwriter from Virginia is also featured on Beyonce’s country album, Cowboy Carter, t he only artist with multiple appearances on the album.

The Lions are 7-1 heading into week 10 of the 2024 NFL season. They’ll host the Chicago Bears, currently 4-4, on Thursday, Nov. 28. Kickoff is at 12:30 p.m.
