The director of North Dakota's Department of Child and Family Services is now facing a stalking charge filed in an apparent connection with incidents that resulted in his October arrest.

Cory Pedersen now faces a misdemeanor charge of stalking that carries a sentence of up to nearly a year in jail if convicted.

Court records indicate a criminal summons was issued Thursday for Pedersen's appearance before a judge.

The stalking charge accompanies a separate misdemeanor charge accusing Pedersen of violating a restraining order. An alleged violation of that order resulted in Pedersen's arrest after the woman, also a state employee, reported seeing him at the state Capitol to law enforcement in October.

Pedersen pleaded not guilty to the charge of violating a domestic violence protection order and is free on $500 unsecured bond. A jury trial in that matter is scheduled to begin March 26.

Pedersen allegedly made numerous attempts to initiate contact with a woman he had been in a long-term dating relationship with after she ended the relationship in late July.

The woman reportedly also told Pedersen she was blocking his number and clearly stated she did not want items mailed to her, nor did she want him to stop by her work, leave voicemails or even walk by her residence.

After Pedersen learned of her intentions to end the relationship, he allegedly made an estimated 125 attempts to contact her between late July and the issuance of the domestic violence restraining order, the affidavit stated. Those attempts allegedly included sending multiple packages to her home, more than 40 voicemail messages, and text messages and numerous calls from "No Caller ID," that are purported to be from Pedersen.

Since Pedersen's arrest on Oct. 8 for the alleged violation of the restraining order, there have been no further attempts to contact the woman, the affidavit stated.

Megan Thee Stallion has officially asked a court to issue a restraining order against Tory Lanez, even though he’s already serving a 10-year prison sentence for shooting her.
