Looking for a unique, homemade yard horror this year? Check out these great DIY outdoor halloween decorations!

It seems like every year, the same outdoor halloween decorations pop up. Every yard is full of the same fake tombstones, the same cloth ghosts are hanging from the entryway, and there’s an “Enter…. If you dare!” mat somewhere nearby. This year, make your yard stand out by hand-making a few unique decorations!

Bat-Covered Front Door

[gallery size="large" ids="3489,3490,3491"] This is a really simple decoration that’ll definitely be unique! Either buy pre-cut bats or cut your own out of felt or construction paper. Then simply tape them in a formation across your front door, and it’ll look like a colony has taken over your yard.

Glowing Monster Eyes

[gallery size="large" ids="3492,3493,3494"] This is a super quick, super cute way to decorate your bushes and dark corners for Halloween! Simply cut some various eye shapes in toilet paper rolls, stick a glow stick inside, tape the ends shut, and you’re done! Hide them in the bushes, or a tree that hasn’t quite lost its leaves yet, or even under your porch if you can see under it!

Wheelbarrow of bones

[gallery size="large" ids="3495,3496,3497"] This is a fun take on a traditional yard decoration. I guarantee these half-buried skeleton pieces are all over your neighborhood around Halloween. Well, change up the look a little! Simply throw some dirt in your wheelbarrow and stick the bones in that instead. Very quick, very easy, and just different enough to make your house stand out.

Spider Sacks

[gallery size="large" ids="3499,3500,3501"] I’m not going to lie, I nearly didn’t include these because just looking at them to add images to this post makes my skin crawl. But hey, that’s the point of halloween, right? These are also super easy to make. Just cut off a pair of white tights, put a baseball inside, tie it off, and glue a bunch of plastic spiders to the outside. Throw some inside too for extra creepy points! Hang a bunch of these outside your door, and you may not even get any trick-or-treaters!

Climbing Skeletons

[gallery size="large" ids="3502,3503,3504"] Another fun take on a pretty standard decoration! All you’ll need for this one is a few plastic skeletons. Tape or nail them up to the side of your house, or place them to look like they’re helping each other climb somewhere! Just be sure to warn your family first, so they don’t stick their head out of a window and see a skeleton invasion!

Bloody Footprints

[gallery size="large" ids="3505,3506,3507"] This is the last of our super easy DIY outdoor Halloween decorations! Click HERE for an awesome, washable, non-staining fake blood recipe. Then simply paint the bottom of your feet with the mixture and walk up the path to your house. You could also drag one foot to leave a streak, or experiment with other different footprint styles!
