Does the Future of Transportation Call for a Boulder Gondola?

The business leaders in Boulder are getting creative with the future of transportation for the city. How creative? Business leaders have pitched the idea for a Boulder gondola to connect downtown to University Hill, according to the Daily Camera. Transit that is usually used for skiing could be a cheap and green way to help solve the congestion problem. The concept for using a gondola has been implemented in major cities such as Hong Hong and smaller cities like Telluride. They have all seen success in the use of this system of transportation. Nothing has been approved or drawn up but the local business leaders in Boulder are planning on meeting with the city’s transportation department next month to talk through the vision. And the support for this thought is growing on the Downtown Boulder Partnership, the Boulder Chamber and several of the City Council member.    There is a lot more thought that needs to go into how the gondola would function, the cost and effectiveness in Boulder. But this Boulder gondola proposal is just in the beginning stages. It will be exciting to see how this idea progresses over the next few months. What are your thoughts on a gondola connecting downtown Boulder with University Hill?
