The Miami Dolphins signed seven of their eight draft picks Friday morning ahead of the start of rookie minicamp.

Michigan defensive tackle Kenneth Grant , Maryland defensive tackle Jordan Phillips, Florida cornerback Jason Marshall Jr., Maryland safety Dante Trader Jr., Oklahoma State running back Ollie Gordon II, Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers and Georgia Tech defensive tackle Zeek Biggers all put pen to paper and agreed to their rookie contracts.

That leaves only offensive lineman Jonah Savaiinaea, whom the Dolphins traded up in the second round to select, as the remaining unsigned draft pick from the draft class of two weeks ago.

Grant, the first-round pick taken at No. 13, was inked to a four-year contract worth $22 million, according to ESPN . That falls in line with the slot value for where he was selected, according to the NFL’s rookie wage scale , and includes a $12.6 million signing bonus. Signing bonuses for this year’s rookie class are reportedly up 26 percent from last year’s class, according to Sportico .

“It was real crazy, just looking at all the contract and all that stuff in there,” Grant said Friday. “It’s surreal, just, you know, dream come true, but it’s time to work.”

Phillips, Marshall and Trader, all selected in the fifth round, will each total about $4.6 million on the scale. Gordon, a sixth-round pick, is due to make more than $4.4 million. Ewers and Biggers, as seventh-rounders, are set to make around $4.3 million.

The slot value for Savaiinaea, still unsigned as the No. 37 pick, is $11.3 million.

Rookie jersey numbers

The eight drafted rookies officially secured their jersey numbers on the roster Friday, as announced by the team .

The draftees’ numbers: Grant 90, Savaiinaea 72, Phillips 94, Marshall 33, Trader 29, Gordon 31, Ewers 14, Biggers 93.

Savaiinaea’s number is significant as the one left behind by left tackle Terron Armstead after his retirement. Phillips’ 94 was previously worn by Christian Wilkins, last in the 2023 season, before he went to the Las Vegas Raiders. Biggers’ 93 was worn by Calais Campbell in 2024. Trader sports the number that Dolphins great cornerback Sam Madison once wore.

The Dolphins also announced the signings of 16 undrafted free agents , listed here with jersey numbers: Arkansas wide receiver Andrew Armstrong (19), Ole Miss safety John Saunders Jr. (35), Missouri running back Nate Noel (38), UCF cornerback BJ Adams (45), Minnesota cornerback Ethan Robinson (46), Texas Tech tight end Jalin Conyers (47), Baylor wide receiver Monaray Baldwin (48), Auburn linebacker Eugene Asante (51), Western Michigan offensive linemen Tedi Kushi (63) and Addison West (65), Michigan offensive lineman Josh Priebe (68), Alabama long snapper Kneeland Hibbett (69), Missouri wide receiver Theo Wease (81), Northwestern wide receiver AJ Henning (88), Kentucky defensive tackle Tre’vonn Rybka (91) and South Carolina defensive tackle Alex Huntley (96).

Not much could be surmised from a brief media viewing portion of half-speed workouts on Friday, but Wease, who is 6-foot-2, impressed with his ability to high-point the football up in the air.

While Hibbett appeared to have a clear path to the starting long snapper role after Blake Ferguson was released Thursday, the Dolphins signed former New England Patriots long snapper Joe Cardona on Friday. They also had Utah State long snapper Jacob Garcia present Friday as a minicamp tryout player.

Local flavor

Friday’s rookie minicamp was the first chance for Marshall to work out for his hometown’s professional team. The former Gator played high school football for Miami Palmetto.

“It feels great, being in the building, wearing the Dolphins logo proudly on my chest,” Marshall said. “This morning, riding past the stadium, literally playing in there soon, it feels great.”

Among the undrafted rookies, Noel is a Miami Northwestern grad who first stood out at Appalachian State before finishing his college career at Missouri. Marshall said they never really crossed paths growing up in South Florida but have had conversations since joining the Dolphins.

Also of local interest among rookie minicamp invites trying out Friday: Miami Hurricanes wide receiver Sam Brown Jr. participated; Tennessee offensive lineman John Campbell Jr. started his college career with UM and Florida linebacker Derek Wingo is a St. Thomas Aquinas grad.
