Attention, high schoolers: the NACAC National College Fair is coming to Denver Mart, on Sunday, September 24.
Choosing the right college is of paramount importance. After all, it can determine the path of the rest of one's life! (No pressure or anything!) Lucky for us, the National College Fair will be coming to Denver to showcase almost 300 colleges and universities from around the country and help kick off your kiddo's college search. WHEN: Sunday, Sep. 24, 2017 |1 p.m. to 4 p.m. WHERE: Denver Mart, 451 E 58th Ave., Denver, CO 80216 COST: FREE (but registration in advance is recommended!) High school students will get the opportunity to meet representatives from a wide range of postsecondary institutions. They can ask questions about majors and campus life, as well as pick up brochures and information from the schools they're most interested in. And when registration for the college fair is completed in advance, students are issued a bar code that colleges can scan at the fair for easy follow-up with the student later on (no more long lines of filling out individual information cards like when I was in high school!). Fancy.
- Do I want to attend a large, medium, or small school?
- What major do I wish to study?
- Do I want to attend an urban, suburban, or rural school?
- Do I want to attend a two-year, four-year, single-sex, or religiously-affiliated school?
- Do I want to participate in athletics, clubs, fraternities, sororities, or special programs such as study abroad or cooperative education?
Then research which institutions match the student's preferences and criteria and narrow down which schools' booths you want to visit. For a full list of all the colleges attending the fair, click here. This can greatly reduce the amount of time you and your prospective student are wandering aimlessly from table to table, feeling generally overwhelmed by all the options!

Held by the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC), the National College Fair conducts more than 90 free fairs around the United States each year. It's sponsored locally by The Denver Post and College Board.
For more information and to register, visit the National College Fair's website. And remember, it's never too early to start the selection process. Students in grades 9-12 are encouraged to attend!
