Celebrate National Poetry Month at the Arlington Poetry Fest!

When: Saturday, April 8th 12-4p.m.

Where: Central Library

April is National Poetry Month! Whether you are a true poet at heart or you enjoy the work of others, there is no reason not to celebrate. The Central Library will be putting on an event in honor of this national month. There will be performances by Arlington Poet, Laureate Katherine E. Young; Christylez Bacon; the Indian Dance Educators Association; Busboys; Poets' Pages Matam; and last, but not least, N.O.W.'s Youth Poets. [gallery ids="795,796"] This event is not just for adults, there will be an array of family friendly activities for everyone! Expose your child to some of the most creative pieces written by local residents. In addition to all of the of the amazing poetry, there will be poetry bookmaking stations with artists, such as Sushmita Mazumdar and Sarah Hussainy.

National Poetry Month is the largest literary celebration in the world, make sure you are a part of it! National Poetry Month was founded in 1996 in hopes to encourage the reading of poems, highlight the legacy and continual achievement of American poets, increase attention paid to poetry by national media, and encourage support for poets and poetry. Show your support April 8th at the Arlington Poetry Fest!
