KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - The Kansas City Police Department reported Saturday that a driver was killed in a head-on crash involving a Jackson County deputy the night before. According to a report, a silver Honda Accord was speeding north in the southbound lanes of Blue Ridge Cutoff just minutes before midnight on Feb. 28. As the Honda reached Sni a Bar Road, it hit a Jackson County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle that was driving south on Blue Ridge Cutoff head-on. The deputy was not headed to an emergency at the time and was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. KCPD says the deputy remains in stable condition. The driver of the Honda was pronounced dead at the scene. KCPD said this is the area’s eighth fatal crash of the year, as compared to 20 at this time last year. The incident is still under investigation.
