Cocktails? In a can? What more can you ask for?

While we're only two months in so far, there's a lot of boozy news to be excited about in 2022. Case in point: Dry Dock Brewing in Colorado has launched a brand-new line of signature canned cocktails called Docktails—and they're every bit as awesome as they sound!

If you're one of the many, many Denverites who like craft beer, it's hard not to know who Dry Dock Brewing is. Its nautically-branded alcohol offers plenty of imaginative twists on draft house classics, such as its Pomegranate Smoothie Ale or Vanilla Bean Porter. Fans and connoisseurs alike keep raving about all the unique flavors created by a love of non-standard ingredients. After all, when's the last time you had a grapefruit lager?

Now, Dry Dock Brewing has set its sights on a new frontier: canned cocktails. Or, more specifically, cocktail-inspired canned drinks called "Docktails," which are perfect for people who want a tasty (and boozy) cocktail on the go. Since their release on March 1, these Docktails have always been taking Denver's thirsty, thirsty brew scene by storm, and it's not hard to see why.

These Docktails come in three different flavors, and each one stays true to Dry Dock's whole "classic, but with a twist" tradition. Consumers can choose between a Strawberry Basil Daiquiri, Cucumber Margarita, and Paloma. Each one is made with real fruit juice and natural ingredients, along with a kick of fermented corn sugar. As there isn't hard liquor in these drinks, they can be sold in grocery and convenience stores where spirit-based drinks otherwise can't be found.

True to tradition, Dry Dock Brewing kicked off the maiden voyage for these awesome drinks with a tiki-themed release party at its South Dock location in Aurora.

If you want an indication of just how awesome these drinks are, the Our Community Now team actually received a full pack of them, which were gone by the end of the afternoon. They're that good.

It's not hard to see the appeal of drinks like these, especially for partygoers and picnic-ers who want canned options beyond beer and wine. In fact, these Docktails are catching a growing tailwind of consumer appetites for ready-to-drink cocktails—or cocktails that come in a packaged, pre-mixed form. Colorado alone says a mind-blowing 118% growth in sales for these sorts of beverages, an appetite that translated to drinking more than $13 million worth of premixed cocktails. Given Dry Dock Brewing's successes in making ready-to-drink cocktails, they'll likely continue developing flavors beyond the initial three.

We're excited to see what sort of unique, Dry Dock-specific twists will be made to happy hour classics like Long Island Iced Teas or Old Fashioneds.

Just be careful: if you buy a case of Docktails on a weeknight, there's no guarantee they'll make it to the weekend.
