The Duke Blue Devils will face the Baylor Bears in the second round of the men's NCAA Tournament on Sunday, and the former is undoubtedly going to be a sizable favorite in the high-profile battle. One headline that will be mentioned frequently both before, during, and after the game is the impact of guard Jeremy Roach, a current member of the Bears Bears team who began his career with the Blue Devils. Roach transferred to Baylor this offseason after being a two-time team captain for Duke , exercising his final year of college eligibility. He helped lead his new team to the No. 9 seed in the East Region with a 19-13 record, and he's averaged 10.1 points, 2.6 assists, and 1.9 rebounds in 28 games (with 18 starts). Roach, a former top-25 recruit in the Class of 2020, had an immensely success career at Duke, spending four seasons there and being named to the All-ACC Third Team as a senior. He averaged 14.0 points per game and made 42.9% of his 3-point attempts during his last season with the program. The Bears took down the No. 8 seed Mississippi State 75-72 in Friday's first game of the day. The Blue Devils throttled the Mount St. Mary's Mountaineers 93-49 in their first-round matchup, ending the first half with 54 points in an early blowout. While Roach vs. his old program is one of the headlines, there will be several in this battle. The Blue Devils have three starting freshmen, so there was quite a bit of change coming Duke's way after Roach's last season. Nonetheless, this team doesn't act like freshmen, and they'll undoubtedly be ready for the battle against a Baylor team also full of many young, talented players.
