Thousands of dogs and their owners flocked to the Dumb Friends League Furry Scurry in Washington Park - the event raised almost $1M for homeless animals.
On Saturday, May 6, the 23rd annual Dumb Friends League Furry Scurry raked in $950,000 for homeless animals! Definitely a number to sniff at. Close to 10,000 people and 5,000 dogs scurried around Washington Park to lend a paw in the two-mile walk that raises money for Dumb Friends League. The ultimate goal of the Furry Scurry is to fundraise $1,100,000. It seems they're very close to their goal at $950,000 and counting!
From 7:30 - 11:30 a.m., a slew of hair and fundraising events were held for pet lovers and their pups! First up was the two-mile walk, along with several pet trick and obstacle course demonstrations. Furry Scurry attendees were welcome to enjoy refreshments, contests and demonstrations with over 150 pet-related sponsors and vendors at the "Flea-less Market." There was a little something for everyone!

The Dumb Friends League took in over 20,000 homeless pets just last year. Not only do they provide homes for our lovable furry friends, the Dumb Friends League offers foster care, behavior training, animal-wellfare investigations, lots pet assistance, and spay and neuter services for cats and dogs. All of these services are funded by events like Furry Scurry, and helping the group reach their goal means more pets will receive the care they need.
