Harry Potter fans and cosplayers will have the chance to gather and celebrate all things Harry Potter at next month’s PotterVerse.
On September 8, a three-day convention designed for fans of J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter book and film series will kick off at the Renaissance Baltimore Harborplace in downtown Baltimore. The event is being put on by fans of the film/book series, and has no affiliation with the author or Warner Brothers. PotterVerse promises to be a fun event for fans! Members of the cast and crew of the films are scheduled to make appearances, while a costume parade and other activities are planned over the course of the convention. The celebrity guests scheduled to be in attendance include Sean Biggerstaff, who played Gryffindor Quidditch Captain Oliver Wood; Devon Murray, who was cast as Seamus Flannigan; Natalia Tena, who played Nymphadora Tonks; and Chris Rankin, the actor who played Percy Weasley. The celebrity guests will be doing interviews, photo-ops and signing autographs.
As is the norm at conventions, the event will feature panels, guests and presenters. More than 50 panels, presentations, discussions and other group activities are planned, with one of them being an educational track designed specifically for artists, writers and creatives. Some panels will delve into topics like Harry Potter and the Psychology of Good and Evil, modern witchcraft, and how cosplay can heal.
Other scheduled events include a real live Jeopardy-type game show as well as a Wheel of Fortune game show which incorporate Wizardry into the trivia. In the evening hours, DJ Kangal and the PotterVerse Tech Crew will be putting on a dance party, so come in your best Potter costumes. Children’s programming consists of interactive workshops where the art supplies, materials and games will be provided, free of charge. The artist alley is set to feature over 70 different vendors and artists displaying and selling their art, products and creations.
