PIKE COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - A burn ban has been put in place for all outdoor burning for some counties in the mountains.

On Friday, Pike County Judge-Executive Ray S. Jones signed an executive order for burning outside to stop in Pike County.

In the order, it said the ban “shall remain in full force and effect until lifted or modified.”

The burn ban was implemented due to extremely dry conditions, officials said.

Earlier in the week, county officials in Breathitt County, Knott County, Johnson County, and Lawrence County put burn bans in place.
