VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — An overnight fire left five adults and three children displaced.

Just after midnight, VBFD units were dispatched to a reported residential structure fire. When crews arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the two-story residence. Crews had the fire marked out around 12:30 a.m.

Smoke alarms were working, and everyone got out safe. Red Cross assisted with temporary housing. The fire originated on the first floor and was determined to be accidental from unattended incense burning.
