Eighteen teams have qualified for the final of the 2025 Olumide Oyedeji Intercollegiate 3×3 Basketball Championship, scheduled to hold from June 19 to 21 at the National Stadium, Lagos.

Following weeks of zonal qualifiers featuring over 100 institutions from across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, the final 18 teams will converge in Lagos to battle for the prestigious title of “King of 3×3.”

From the North West, Ahmadu Bello University and Bayero University,
Kanosecured qualifications. Representing the North Central are the Federal University of Technology, Minna; Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai; and the College of Education, Minna.

The North East will be represented by the College for Legal Studies, Yola; Federal College of Education, Yola; and the American University of Nigeria, Yola.

In the South West, Obafemi Awolowo University, Lead City University, and Ladoke Akintola University of Technology advanced to the finals. The South East teams include Caritas University, Institute of Management and Technology, Enugu, and University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

Rounding out the finalists are the South-South representatives: University of Benin, Ambrose Alli University, and Dennis Osadebay University.

Olumide Oyedeji, founder of the tournament and a board member of the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF), said the championship was established to promote the fast-growing 3×3 format in Nigeria and develop grassroots basketball.

“3×3 is gaining global traction, and Nigeria cannot be left behind,” Oyedeji said.

“As a basketball-playing nation, we must leverage the growth of 3×3 to engage more young talents and provide a pathway to international exposure.”
