Port St. Lucie Police Chief Richard Del Toro and businessman Steve Giordano are running for the St. Lucie County sheriff position, each highlighting their unique qualifications.

Del Toro, with 26 years in law enforcement, plans to implement his successful crime reduction strategies countywide. Giordano, a former corrections deputy, believes his business acumen and community ties make him the best candidate.

Both candidates stress the importance of community involvement and leadership in reducing crime and improving the sheriff's office.
