ELIZABETHTOWN, Ky. (WDRB) -- Two people were found dead inside a burning home in Elizabethtown early Wednesday. Police said investigators are questioning a man who could have information.

Elizabethtown Police Department spokesperson Chris Denham said there are some "suspicious circumstances" surrounding this ongoing death investigation.

"Any time we respond to a scene of a fire and find deceased people, we're going to conduct a very thorough investigation. But there were some potential reports of some things that happened. There was potentially, someone left, someone fled the area this morning at a high rate of speed. There's nothing to indicate -- that's not necessarily indicative of their involvement in the crime, but it's certainly suspicious within the close proximity of when the initial event occurred," Denham said Wednesday morning.

Firefighters responded to the burning home in the 500 block of Henon Lane around 5 a.m. Denham said that's when firefighters found two men dead inside.

No information has been released yet on the men's identities or exactly how they died.

During a news briefing Wednesday morning , Denham said investigators found a man at a nearby hotel who they think has information on what may have happened. Denham said the man was being interviewed by police. He could not confirm if that man was the same person seen speeding away from the area earlier in the morning.

He has not been charged, Denham said, adding "he is certainly someone who has information. Again, I'm not comfortable calling him a suspect, it's just so early in the investigation."

Denham was unable to release information about the victims other than to say they are both adult males. It's not known if they lived at the home.

The cause of the fire has not been released.

For several hours Wednesday, police and fire officials had all of Henon Lane blocked while they investigated the scene.

"It's really sad," said a neighbor who lives on a street nearby.

She said she hopes police are able to figure out what happened.

"I heard the sirens and I saw the flickering and I looked out the window and it was on fire," she said, pointing at the home down the road.

Police said there is no threat to the community. The investigation continues.
