ENGLEWOOD — An annual South Side event dubbed “the largest community clean-up in Chicago” is back Saturday, and volunteers are invited to join the celebration.

The 11th Annual Greater Englewood Unity Day will take place 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at We Grow Chicago’s Peace Campus, 6402 S. Honore St. Dozens of volunteers will take to Englewood’s streets to clean up and beautify blocks, parks, vacant lots and green spaces.

Participants can register for free to attend Unity Day here . Volunteers will receive cleaning supplies at the event.

Neighbors can also sign up to assist organizers in coordinating the weekend event. Registration for two-hour work shifts is available here .

Imagine Englewood if… , a youth development nonprofit organization, has organized Unity Day since 2012. Over 2,000 volunteers have since shown up for the clean-up event, proving the “strength, power and love that exist in the Greater Englewood community,” organizers said.

The 11th Annual Unity Day will be “bigger and better” as volunteers partner with ward offices, block clubs and other community organizations to rake, paint and clean corridors. Volunteers can flex their green thumbs while cleaning community garden beds and repairing the Nature Park on We Grow Chicago’s Peace Campus.
