'Puppy Mountain' photo draws onlookers to a Chinese riverside A mountain in China's Hubei Province has gone viral after a tourist posted it on social media, captioning it "puppy mountain." The mountain, which resembles a dog resting its head on the ground, is located on the bank of the Yangtze river, and has now become a draw for tourists. Creative Careers. Returning for the 2024-25 school year, the Appell Center for the Performing Arts is offering hands-on career days for high school students to explore all the opportunities that exist for creative work off the stage in live theater and film. This year, industry professionals will lead interactive workshops for students in film props and art, stage direction, film production and sound and light design. The Superintendent’s Combo is the U.S. Naval Academy Band’s jazz combo designated to support the many events hosted by the Superintendent of the U.S. Naval Academy. The group regularly performs for local military officials and visiting dignitaries from around the globe at the Superintendent’s residence – Farragut House – and around the Naval Academy. The Superintendent’s Combo also performs public concerts in and around Annapolis. Tickets $10, children 11 and under free. Special Olympics Pennsylvania Indoor Winter Games. Special Olympics Pennsylvania is thrilled to bring its fourth annual Indoor Winter Games to York County. The competition will kick off on Saturday and will feature an Opening Ceremony, Unified sports events, and the lighting of the Flame of Hope torch with the help of local law enforcement. This indoor competition follows SOPA’s Winter Games, which highlighted sports like alpine skiing, snowboarding and snowshoeing. Indoor Winter Games fulfills the second half of Olympic-style winter sports, showcasing the talents of athletes in sports including figure skating, speed skating, bowling, floor hockey and for the first time ever, floorball. In addition to this year’s competition, Olympic Village will be held on Saturday at 4 p.m. at the York Expo Center and include 25 clinicians offering free dental exams and health screenings through the Healthy Athletes and Special Smiles Program. Opening Ceremonies will begin later Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m. at the York Expo Center as well. The ceremony will be combined with the event’s Victory Dance and Olympic Village.
