He's been with the New Orleans Saints organization since 2019, and now he's reached coordinator status. Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers assistant special teams coach Phil Galiano has been promoted within the Saints coaching staff from an assistant to the special teams coordinator per Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated. The 47-year-old Galiano has also spent time with the Dolphins as well as numerous college programs since 2000. Galiano will replace Darren Rizzi who left New Orleans to join the Broncos on Sean Payton's staff. Rizzi served as the interim head coach for the Saints after Denis Allen was fired mid-season. Kellen Moore was announced as the Saints head coach after a season in Philadelphia that ended with the Eagles beating the Chiefs 40-22 in Super Bowl LIX earlier this month. Moore will bring in his own staff including Doug Nussmeier as offensive coordinator. Galiano served with the Bucs in 2012-2013 under coach Greg Schiano, with whom he served with at Rutgers during both stints.
