According to data from " Cirium, an aviation analytics company ", 168 flights take off from Raleigh–Durham International Airport (RDU) in North Carolina, US, to Europe in November 2024. Carriers from the US as well as in Europe are offering more than 42,000 seats on these flights this month, and these equate to more than 162 million Available Seat Miles (ASMs).

4 Frankfurt, Germany



Operated by Lufthansa



According to Cirium, (LH) has 13 flights on its Airbus A330-300s (in November) from Raleigh–Durham Airport to in Germany. These flights offer 3.315 seats and over 14 million ASMs. According to FlightRoutes , Lufthansa is the only carrier offering a non-stop flight on this route, and it takes around 8 hours and 15 minutes on average to fly between these two cities.

According to planespotters.net , Lufthansa's A330-300s have an average age of 14.9 years. The oldest of these is registered D-AIKI and was delivered to LH in September 2005.

3 Reykjavik, Iceland



The only route to be operated by two different aircraft types



Icelandair's flights between the two cities are approximately six hours long. According to FlightRoutes , carriers that used to offer one-stop flight connections on this route included United Airlines and Delta Air Lines.

2 Paris, France



Operated by Air France



Air France (AF) introduced its route between Paris Charles De Gaulle Airport (CDG) and Raleigh Airport last year. When the French flag carrier started its operations, it had taken over " the Paris service as part of its partnership with Delta Air Lines, who had flown the route since 2016 ", reported RDU .

Air France is currently the only carrier offering non-stop flights on this route. The carrier deploys its Airbus A350-900 on the 42 flights it has planned between the two cities this month. Air France is offering 13,608 seats on this route, which translates into over 54 million ASMs.

However, when the operations began, the airline was operating a Boeing 787-9 on this route, and RDU reported that this aircraft used to offer 279 seats -a figure which was greater than the number of seats offered on aircraft that previously operated between the two airports.

1 London, United Kingdon



The service is operated by American Airlines



The above table shows the details of AA's operations from RDU to London Heathrow Airport (LHR). These numbers are identical for the American flag carrier's operations from LHR to RDU. United Airlines, Delta, and Air Canada are some of the carriers offering one-stop flight connections between these two cities.

"The route is one of the airline’s last transatlantic hops to Europe to return and joins Charlotte (CLT) as the second North Carolina city with nonstop service to London (LHR). The aircraft chosen to operate the route is the airline’s Boeing 777-200. These wide-body jets have 146 regular seats in Main Cabin (economy), 66 regular seats in Main Cabin Extra (economy+), 24 seats with extra recline in premium economy, and 37 lie-flat seats up front in business class."

All in all, AA offers 7,644 seats on its flights between RDU and LHR.
