The 14-year-old has delivered in a big way for the series in the role of Anthony LaRusso.
Netflix has recently acquired the rights to Cobra Kai, the extremely popular series which picks up years after The Karate Kid franchise left off. We recently had the chance to ask a few questions of one of the show's stars, an actor who is quickly rising in the ranks—Griffin Santopietro.
The 14-year-old has delivered in a big way for the series in the role of Anthony LaRusso and makes a great pair with Ralph Macchio's Daniel LaRusso. Griffin plays the son of the Karate Kid legend and is a force to be reckoned with on screen.
Here's what Griffin had to say about watching The Karate Kid for the first time, what he loves most about being a part of the series, and more.
OCN: How did you get your start in acting?
Griffin Santopietro: When I was about 9 years old, I participated in a nationwide talent search in Florida called “Talent Inc.” and subsequently got my agent and managers.
OCN: When was the first time you saw The Karate Kid movies?
Griffin Santopietro: I first saw The Karate Kid movies with my grandpa when I was about 7.
OCN: What do you love the most about being a part of Cobra Kai?
Griffin Santopietro: Out of everything I love about being a part of Cobra Kai, I’d have to say my favorite is the people I’ve met along the way.
OCN: What has it been like for you being a part of such a wildly popular show at such a young age?
Griffin Santopietro: My personal life hasn't changed much, if at all. I’m kind of happy that I still have a somewhat normal life.
OCN: What was your initial reaction when you heard you got the part in Cobra Kai?
Griffin Santopietro: I was obviously stoked about booking the job and couldn't be happier to pack up my bags and go.
OCN: What do you guys do to pass the time on set when you’re not filming?
Griffin Santopietro: Well, everyone on set is really funny, so telling jokes and laughing gets us through the day.
OCN: Are there any other upcoming projects you’re going to be a part of that you’d like to share about?
Griffin Santopietro: Nothing that I know of just yet, but at a time like this everyone is sort of frozen, so we'll see.
