The 2018 GMC Terrain has landed.
The 2018 GMC Terrain is here, and it's sporting a much-needed redesign. The first generation Terrain was GMC's entry into the booming crossover market, and now that everyone seems to offer a crossover, GMC is upping its game. For 2018, the Terrain not only offers a tough, rugged, design -- a rarity in the crossover segment -- but a whole host of new engines, a revised interior, and an all-new infotainment center.
The upgrades include HID headlamps, LED accent lighting, and a variety of grills to complete the military-sheik look. As for engines, you have the choice between two turbocharged gas variants -- a 1.5-liter four-cylinder offering 170 horsepower and 201 pound feet of torque or the 2.0-liter that offers a healthy 252 horsepower and 260 pound feet of torque. Or you can opt for a 1.6-liter diesel producing 137 horsepower and 240 pound feet of torque. All are mated to a 9-speed transmission, and all will slingshot you into I-70's left lane with ease.

On the inside, the Terrain is an oasis. It's clear that GMC is targeting those looking for an elevated crossover and not an econo-box designed solely to get you to and from the trail head. However, it's not quite elevated enough to make you feel like you can't use it for such. Should you choose to use it for utility, the Terrain includes a fold-flat passenger seat and fold-flat second row -- meaning you can load items up to eight feet long.
Above all, the new infotainment center offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 7" touch screen, and profiles you can personalize for different drivers.
Starting at $25,970, the Terrain is within reach of those who elect to buy every ski pass, and you don't have to worry about it sitting in the ski parking lot.
