For Northeast Missouri residents and those planning to travel through the area, anticipate some traffic delays in the coming days. The Missouri Department of Transportation has announced a series of roadworks scheduled for February 24 through March 7. As always, bear in mind the weather could lead to shifts in this schedule. The department's focus appears to be on routine maintenance, with several closures earmarked for culvert replacement and others for brush cutting and sign installations. Notably, Macon County's Route K will be closed for culvert operations from Route KK to Kennedy Street and then from Kennedy Street to Routes DD/AA on different days, according to a statement obtained by MoDOT . Drivers should also expect lane restrictions along U.S. Route 61 in Marion County and U.S. Route 24 in Monroe County for sign installations and patching operations, respectively. Meanwhile, in Pike County, there will be complete road closures on Missouri Route 79 for brush cutting operations across several segments over various days. Closures will happen between specific county roads and are detailed on the MoDOT website . MoDOT has stressed the importance of driver cooperation during these times, particularly through work zones. "Work with us in the work zone!" implores the department, reminding everyone to obey signs and personnel for safety. Review all precise timings and locations of the planned roadworks on MoDOT's Traveler Information Map. The department also encourages safe driving habits, such as buckling up, ignoring your phone, slowing down, and moving over in work zones, to ensure everyone's safety.
