Chaos unfolded early yesterday at Brooks Gardens Townhomes in Brooklyn Park when an altercation between family members resulted in a shooting. According to the report , the Brooklyn Park Police Department responded to a call at approximately 12:30 a.m. and found the suspect, identified as Hakim Watkins, a 29-year-old from St. Louis Park, MN, attempting to flee the scene.

Watkins, in the process of being apprehended, managed to assault a police officer, inflicting minor injuries, mentioned the same source. Before officers arrived on the scene, an argument had escalated to the point where Watkins brandished a firearm and shot the victim in the hand. The victim, whose identity remains undisclosed, was treated for injuries considered non-life-threatening and is projected to make a full recovery.

The location, 5540 69th Ave N, was quickly secured by law enforcement, who detained Watkins and subsequently booked him into the Hennepin County Jail. While details of the family dispute remain unclear, investigators are actively piecing together the incident to understand the dynamics that led to the violence.
