If you happened to miss last night’s BKFC event out in New Mexico, you sadly missed an insane fight that’s been rightly called ‘one of the best’ in history. The
Bare-Knuckle Fighting Championship took over Albuquerque, New Mexico, this past Friday with a truly wild night of action headlined by Keith Richardson vs Bekhzod Usmonov. On a card where 10 of the 11 bouts ended via KO/TKO, fans witnessed arguably the best fight in the promotion’s history between featherweight contenders Eric Dodson and Van Vo.
Insane BKFC Albuquerque fight ends in KO after eight knockdowns
Heading into BKFC: Albuquerque, Eric Dodson vs Van Vo was widely expected to be a back-and-forth brawl; and back-and-forth it certainly was with a whopping eight knockdowns shared between them. Less than 12 seconds into the opening round, Dodson landed two nasty straight punches to send Vo crashing back towards the ropes and 30 seconds later, the fight might’ve been over. As both men swung for the fences, Vo caught Dodson with a counter left hook, sending him flailing backward onto the canvas and bouncing his head off the mat – somehow, he managed to survive. With one knockdown a piece, it was Vo’s turn to hit the deck; and then within the final minute of the first round, Dodson was dropped twice more to make it 3-2 going into the second. Seven seconds into round two, Vo would be dropped again with a picture-perfect counter right; before rallying back with one, two, three more big knockdowns of his own. As both fighters prepared for a third dramatic round, it appeared as though Vo was only a few big shots away from finishing his insanely durable opponent – that KO pick came true, but not from Vo. After eating an overhand right, Dodson unloaded a near 14-punch combination that had Vo shelled up and using the ropes for cover; the referee mercilessly called a stop to the contest with Dodson earning the third-round TKO win. Eight knockdowns, countless broken bones, and a vicious standing TKO – the commentary desk put it best, “A remarkable victory in a remarkable fight.”
Fans hail Dodson vs Vo as ‘one of the best BKFC fights of all time’
Given both the insane number of knockdowns and the finish itself, it’s no surprise that combat sports fanatics around the world are rightly hailing Dodson vs Vo as perhaps the single greatest fight in the promotion’s history. One of the best BKFC fights of all time
@TheNotoriousMMA take care of these lads! “Bar fight to the max!” wrote one fan, with another adding: “There’s no shame anywhere in that fight!” “Eric Dodson vs Van Vo is one of the best fight ever in bkfc history. Fight of the year so far. It ended with a brutal standing ko win for Eric Dodson too. He got ko power and a good chin just like his bro John Dodson.” Dodson is now 4-2 as a BKFC fighter; his brother John Dodson is the BKFC flyweight champion.
