VIRGINIA BEACH — Police on Friday announced five people were apprehended and subsequently charged in connection to the April 4 killing of a 20-year-old Virginia Beach man .

The man, Joshua Rice, died on the scene from gunshot wounds at the 400 block of Osprey Street, near Virginia Beach Boulevard and Witchduck Lake.

Virginia Beach police said in a statement four of the five people apprehended had been charged with second-degree murder and using a firearm in the commission of a felony.

Those four are Nasir Carter, 18, of Virginia Beach; Ekue Dossekpli, 19, of Virginia Beach; Taejohn Stewart, 21, of Virginia Beach and Keondre Willie, 21, of Virginia Beach.

The fifth person arrested, 29-year-old Shaquita West of Virginia Beach, was charged with concealing or destroying physical evidence of a felony offense.

The last arrest was made on Thursday, officers said.

“I am incredibly proud of the investigative efforts of our officers to bring closure to Mr. Rice’s family and loved ones,” said Police Chief Paul Neudigate in the statement.

No additional information was immediately available.
