It seems like Shane Lowry can't keep his cool when it comes to the PGA Championship.

During this Friday, May 16th's game, Lowry, 38, was on the eighth hole, as reported by People Magazine. The event took place at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte and culminated in the Irishman being forced to sit out this weekend's game, which is to be the second men’s major of the year.

Per the outlet, Shane Lowry's tee shot landed in a divot located on the fairway. While he tried to smooth things over with a rules official, the latter wouldn't change his mind, forcing the player, who currently ranks No. 10 in the world, to continue swinging from the divot.

Upon doing so, he took his frustrations out on the area around the divot before slamming his club straight into the gap, effectively ripping out a chunk of the turf.

According to the Irish Independent, Shane Lowry is now left outside the cutline after rounds of 73 and 71, though, as reported by The New York Post, following the debacle, he managed to par the next three holes.

The golfer was seated eight shots behind leader Jhonattan Vegas, who, for his part, managed to shoot a 1-under in the second round. This now allows him to take the lead into this weekend's game in searching for his first major.

According to Bunkered, if Shane Lowry's ball had made it to its one pitch mark, it would have entitled the golfer to embedded ball relief.

Shane Lowry's anger has been known to boil over in the past, such as when, in the 2023 Players Championship, he snapped a club over his knee. The following year, he got into a verbal feud with a cameraman at the Open Championship, as per People.
