PHOENIX (AZFamily) — A Fire Weather Watch is in effect for much of eastern Arizona on Saturday and Sunday because of dry conditions and gusty winds. Winds may gust up to around 40 mph this weekend. This includes Greer, so unfortunately this means stronger winds for the firefighting effort this weekend. A Wind Advisory is in effect for northwestern Arizona on Saturday. Mostly sunny today and Saturday with highs in the mid 90s. Breezes will pick up Saturday with winds gusting to 20-25 mph. Sunday looks like the pick of the weekend with highs in the upper 80s! Sunday wont’ be quite as breezy, but some gusts over 20 mph are still possible on Sunday afternoon. Temperatures will rise to the low 90s on Monday. The normal this time of year is 94, so it looks like we will start the work week a little below normal. The below-normal trend will likely come to an end by Tuesday with highs in the mid to upper 90s. The triple digits then return by Wednesday and Thursday with highs in the low to mid 100s. For the high country, it will be a windy weekend, with some showers possible in northern Arizona late Saturday and into Sunday. Another system on Sunday into Monday will bring an additional chance of showers for the high country, along with some high-elevation snow possible. The cooler temperatures and chance for showers may help reduce the fire risk a bit, but the gusty winds will still be a factor. See a spelling or grammatical error in our story?
