MOORHEAD WINS #1 VS. #2 THRILLER OVER ALEXANDRIA
ALEXANDRIA, MINN. — It was No. 1 vs. No. 2 in Alexandria on Friday night, as the top-ranked Cardinals hosted the Moorhead Spuds for a matchup between the two top teams in 5A. In a battle of the unbeatens, Moorhead relied on quarterback Jett Feeney to keep up in an offensive shootout. The sophomore found Reign Battle for a score in the 1st quarter, and David Mack late in the 3rd to keep pace with the Cardinals.

Battle would find the endzone again in the 4th quarter to put the Spuds up 36-27, but a quick Alexandria touchdown and fumble recovery gave the Cardinals a last-minute chance on their homecoming night. The Cardinals would march down the field, but missed a late field goal attempt wide left, and Moorhead held on to stay undefeated on the season.

The Spuds (7-0) will finish the regular season on Wednesday, October 16th at home against Sauk Rapids-Rice. Alexandria (6-1) will look to get back in the win column before the start of the playoffs with a game on the road against Elk River.
